Ms. Underwood developed AORTA Projects knowing that the creative process can be used to affect social change and healing from trauma. The art serves to be both a functional and personal part of the community. Nola.TV was on hand this past Saturday, September 12th, for the unveiling of the latest installation, ‘Open House’. This project consists of 25 functional pieces of furniture located on that corner of Dreaux and Eastern, in the Gentilly neighborhood. Susan Neely, community resident, architect and designer of this installation, and long-time Gentilly resident, Carolyn Thomas, were on hand to share their thoughts about the project and the past, present, and future of this resilient community.
